CLEMENTS Department store, the oldest in Watford,
opened in October 1898 and closed it’s doors
in 2004, much to the disappointment of the local community.
However the name CLEMENTS returned to the original
building, now a T J Hughes discount store, when Simon
Shoebottom opened the CLEMENTS Furniture Department
on the Lower Ground Floor in 2007. Simon moved from
the John Lewis group to CLEMENTS in 1990 as the Furniture
and Bed Buyer and soon added Soft Furnishings and CARPETS
to his portfolio.
Due to the success of the CLEMENTS Furniture Department
it was decided to open a CLEMENTS CARPET Department.
In keeping with the tradition of the old CLEMENTS,
this new Department is run and staffed by some of the
team who used to work for them. The Directors are Clive & Alan
Brooks who at one time fitted carpets for CLEMENTS.
Between them they have 50 years combined experience
in carpets, so they can offer plenty of practical advice
when customers mull over the wide range of flooring
options available on display in the shop.
First rate service, excellent quality and value for
money! These are the values our previous customers
will remember and what our new customers can expect.
We all look forward to welcoming you on the Lower
Ground Floor at T J Hughes in Watford.
